All materials produced using CARISMA data are subject to the CGSM 'Rules of the road' shown below, and should include an appropriate acknowledgement, such as:

"The authors thank I.R. Mann, D.K. Milling and the rest of the CARISMA team for data. CARISMA is operated by the University of Alberta, funded by the Canadian Space Agency."

The following CARISMA reference paper should also be cited:

CGSM 'Rules of the Road'

CGSM data is freely available to all engaged in bona-fide academic research and education subject to the following 'rules of the road'. These conditions are not intended to deter potential users, merely to allow the Instrument PIs and their funding agencies to remain fully informed of all the uses of their data. They are also intended to encourage the users of the data to approach the Instrument teams for expert guidance in the use and interpretation of the data.

In addition to these rules the Instrument PIs may also produce a more detailed set of rules relating to their own data. These constitute part of the overall CGSM 'rules of the road'.

  1. Use of the CGSM data for commercial gain, including product or service development such as space weather forecasting, is expressly forbidden under these guidelines.
  2. The Instrument PIs should be informed of any intended use of their data or data products in presentations or publications of any kind. Where the data forms an important element of the work, then the Instrument PIs should be offered co-authorship at an early stage.
  3. All presentations and publications should carry an acknowledgement to the the relevant Instrument team(s).
  4. Data users are not entitled to distribute data to third parties either directly or indirectly (e.g via a publicly accessible online data set).
